Giant Asian Killer “Brown Cloud” is Coming to a Continent Near You!

According to this mornings Green News, there is a three-kilometer thick cloud of brown soot from factories, fires, cars, burning tires and deforestation, hanging over Asia that is darkening cities, killing thousands and damaging crops.

But what is really weird is that this cloud is actually blocking sunlight from the earth, masking the true nature of global warming on our planet.

But don’t get excited yet. Our Global Warming problems haven’t been solved by the Brown Cloud. The cloud is believed to be causing a shortening of the monsoon season in India while increasing flooding there and in southern China. In addition, soot is falling on Glaciers, speeding the increase of their melting.

At a monitoring station near Mount Everest, soot has been found at levels which scientists say would be expected in urban areas.

So how many people are dying because of this cloud? The report estimates that around 340,000 people are dying prematurely because of damage to their lungs, hearts and risk of cancer.

“The emergence of the atmospheric brown cloud problem is expected to further aggravate the recent dramatic escalation of food prices and the consequent challenge for survival among the world’s most vulnerable populations,” the report said.

I’ve got to tell you, this is just weird. Maybe we should call it Global Weirding?
