Video of Sarah Palin doing an  Interview In Front Of Turkeys Being Slaughtered

Sarah Palins Turkey Interview. You would think that she would be a little smarter than this. I’m a realist, but even I know that this doesn’t make for good P.R. I eat turkey. I love Turkey. But come on Sarah, the guy has blood all over him for Petes Sake!

Bush must owe people in the fossil fuel business some big favors, because he seems to be working at a fever pitch to pass Midnight Regulations against the Environment.

bush A List of Bush Midnight Regulations Against the Environment

Midnight Regulations are last minute laws passed by an outgoing president in an attempt to pay off favors and keep a new administration from being able to change them. With barely 60 days to go until Barack Obama takes the White House, Bush is working methodically to weaken or reverse an array of regulations that protect America’s wilderness from logging or mining operations, and compel factory farms to clean up dangerous waste.

Below are just a few of the things Bush and his administration are doing.

  • Bureau of Land Management’s plans to auction off 20,000 hectares of oil and gas parcels within sight of Utah’s Delicate Arch natural bridge.

President Bush Opening Public Lands Near Parks for Drilling

  • Coal-fired power plants will no longer be required to install pollution controls or clean up soot and smog pollution.
  • Industrial size pig, cow and chicken farms can disregard the Clean Water Act and air pollution controls.
  • Restrictions will be eased so power plants can operate near national parks and wilderness areas.
  • Mountain-top mine operators could dump waste into rivers and streams.
  • 2m acres of land in Utah, Wyoming and Colorado opened to development of oil shales, the dirtiest fuel on Earth.

There is an ocean of oil under our feet!

  • A rule eliminating the mandatory, independent advice of government scientists in decisions about whether dams, highways and other projects are likely to harm species.

Announcements of further rule changes are expected in the next few days including one that would weaken regulation of perchlorate, a toxin in rocket fuel that can affect brain development in children, in drinking water.

What can you do?  Well we may not have much luck stopping him from doing further harm, but we can be proactive with our new President.

Please go to President Elect Obama’s website on “Change.” There is a link there, asking for your input. On this page it says, “We’re counting on citizens from every walk of life to get involved. Share your experiences and your ideas — tell us what you’d like the Obama-Biden administration to do and where you’d like the country to go.”

Thanks for stopping in, and as always, keep up the good fight and Alter the Eco!

BP Oil Company has proven itself to be just another “Green Washing” Industry outsider, by closing its Sydney Australia Solar Panel Factory.

bp BP closes solar panel factory. Beyond Petrolium Changed to BSing People

BP used to be known as “British Petroleum,” but about 5 years ago, the Oil Industry started to take some heat when the Green Movement started. So in an effort to re-brand itself, BP came out with a series of commercials designed in light green pastels with singing birds, flowers spreading their leaves beneath a rising sun and a deeply soft voiced announcer saying “BP. Beyond Petroleum.”

I almost choked on my coffee when I saw it. “Beyond Petroleum my A#&!”

President Elect Obama addressed the Governors Global Climate Summit today. Here is the video and transcript.

My favorite quote from the address?

“The science is beyond dispute and the facts are clear. Sea levels are rising, Coast levels are shrinking. Climate Change and our dependence on foreign oil, if left unaddressed will continue to weaken our economy and threaten our National Security.”

Transcript:
Let me begin by thanking the bipartisan group of U.S. governors who convened this meeting.

Few challenges facing America – and the world – are more urgent than combating climate change. The science is beyond dispute and the facts are clear. Sea levels are rising. Coastlines are shrinking. We’ve seen record drought, spreading famine, and storms that are growing stronger with each passing hurricane season.

In Canada, a farmer who used his own seeds, was sued by Monsanto because some of their seeds blew into his field from a farm truck spill.

Monsanto seeds cross pollinated with the farmers crops, producing plants that carry genes that are patented. Mansanto maintains that regardless of what happened, it now owns the farmers crops, and if the farmer wants to sell those crops, he owes them money.

detroit-auto 6 Reasons Why Detroits Big Three Dont Deserve a Bailout.

I grew up in Michigan. Not in Detroit, but in a small town on the west side, near Lake Michigan. An idyllic setting with more churches and boats per-capita than almost anywhere in the United States. Summers spent playing in the surf and laying on the beach, a Norman Rockwell type old fashioned Downtown, and the only real reason to be out of work was because you wanted to be.

I worked for a company (for a short time) that inspected auto parts that were made by O.E.M’s (Original Manufacturers) and sent to the Auto Assembly Plants. My Father retired from the Auto Industry.

It’s a different world there now, and though I don’t live there anymore, I hear the horror stories from family and friends over the phone. According to my Mom, the thing that qualifies you as doing “O.K.” is whether or not you have a job.

“How you doing today?” “I’m doing o.k.” “Well great! You must have a job!”
